Nice to meet you Chef

November 16, 2010

Over the weekend, Marco and I were invited (thanks to our good friend Cassi) to a wine tasting event called Taste Washington! at the River East Art Center. We had a wonderful time – tons of delicious wine and scrumptious appetizers and of course art!

A group favorite was the 2008 Tinto Tempranillo from Pomum Cellars (Pomum is Latin for the word fruit). It’s not sold locally (yet) but I was told you can just ask your neighborhood Whole Foods and they’ll order it for you.

The HIGHLIGHT of the evening though was getting a chance to meet Stephanie Izard and eat her food 🙂 Maybe you’ve heard of her, she’s  Season 4 Top Chef Winner and Owner and Chef of Girl and The Goat in the West Loop…

She was at the event serving up some amazing dishes – Mushroom Ragout and Squash Polenta Cake AND Shaved Kolrabi Salad and Ginger Dressing and Evalon Cheese – it was heaven!

Girl and The Goat opened its doors at 809 West Randolph Street in the summer of 2010. I hear its been booked up solid ever since, but I can’t wait to get my hands on some more of Stephanie’s tasty morsels as soon as possible!
